will shine at Verizon Wireless King of the Cape"

WEST
DENNIS, MA -- Just over a month to go till the 2004 Verizon Wireless
King of the Cape returns for its 6th year! And we have news that top
freestyle talent will be flocking to Cape Cod on June 4-6, for a weekend
of world-class freestyle.
Headlining
the event will be 6th ranked in the world, Dioni Guadagnino (Bic/Neil
Pryde), an American who lives in Margarita and has been competing on
the World Freestyle Tour for over the past 5 years. Dioni is a King
of the Cape alumni from 2002 where he put on an incredible show.
Putting
Dioni to the test will be Tati Frans (AHD/Gaastra) from Bonaire who
is an up and coming star on the tour and helped put Bonaire on the freestyle
map, with his brother Tonky. They will be bringing along quite a few
upstarts from Bonaire and these young guns will surely be looking to
make an impression.
Another
up and coming freestyle star, from the Island of Maui, is Nick Warmuth
(Starboard/Gaastra), who will be coming out to strut his stuff and show
what he has been working on over the winter with his fellow freestyle
buddy, Riley Coon (Starboard/Simmer Sails). Riley, who has his own line
of surf wear under the brand name of Windkook, has been pushing the
freestyle envelope with Nick at Kanaha Beach for the past few years.
Nick and Riley are both alums from 2003 King of the Cape.
Freestyle
hotshot, Tyson Poor (JP/NeilPryde), will also be making his debut at
the King of the Cape, bringing his West Coast flare to the contest and
will surely be in the running. Long time event participants will be
returning again to the pro division, home grown talent like Mike Burns
(F2/North) and Jace Panebianco (RRD/Hot Sails) will be eager to show
that New England can produce some great windsurfing talent.
There
are also some rumors that some of the lady pros will be stopping by
to do some clinics and test their mettle against the boys in the pro-division.
Jennifer Henderson (Hot Sails) hot off the PWA Wave Pro at Ho'okipa
may be making an appearance for Hot Sails as is possibly Nori Hubbs
for Ezzy Sails. They are unconfirmed at this point but we are keeping
our fingers crossed.
At
the King of the Cape, one of the best parts of the contest go beyond
the hotshot pros, but resides with the kids. Some of the most amazing
junior freestylers will be making appearances at the event. Some of
these will be coming from Bonaire but not to be outdone by some home
grown local talent including Jeremiah Malina, Andrea Gillum, Bradley
Louw, Will Johnson, Ben Del Guercio, Solvig Sayre, and Adam Dannewitz
to name a few. New to the freestyle scene and much anticipated will
be Conner Baxter from Maui who is looking to spread some Aloha and learn
from the more experienced sailors in the junior freestyle division.
Conner is an up and coming star who sails for Starboard and was the
youngest person to complete the Molokai Windsurfing Challenge last summer.
Quite a feat for such a young boy.
Early
